Based in Grants Pass, OR, haumana (students) of all ages and levels meet to explore the music, dance and traditional crafts of Hawaii and Polynesia. The dancers of Hula ‘O Nuku  ‘Ãina (A Passage in the Land) under the direction of Kat Greene began performing in 2011 to share their hula experience throughout the Rogue Valley for enjoyment, education and cultural understanding.

Co-ed Class (Ages 15 and up) Children 14 and under may dance in the back for free if an adult parent is enrolled.  Child must be supervised and may not attend if the adult student is not present in class.

Style:  Kahiko (ancient)    Auana (modern)   Tahitian Aparima (slow Tahitian)

A week of hula in nature’s natural outdoor setting. Surrounded by ferns and redwoods trees, students will learn a kahiko (ancient) and auana (modern) style hula, and explore the rhythm and sounds of Hawaiian implements used in hula and polynesian dance. Learn to make a lei using resources in the natural environment, and dance in a ho’ike (show) with live music by ukulele musicians.
